UFC main and co-main event results

UFC 227 was a night for the books. Main event Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2 and co-main event Johnson vs. Cejudo 2 were extremely exciting and action packed. A night that will go down in my opinion as one of this years UFC’s history making PPV events. Cementing Dillashaw’s reign in Bantamweight and a New Flyweight Champion in Cejudo.

The co-main event between DJ vs. Henry in my opinion was very close and could have been at best a tie. DJ has defended the throne since 2006 with 11 title defenses and most of those in convincing fashion. Last night Henry adjusted very well to DJ and secured several takedowns which is a lot to say against Mighty Mouse but to me was not enough to actually win the fight. DJ attacked and in those takedowns by Henry he managed to roll over and defended his position.

Cejudo did look much better than their first fight and is a young stud and highly decorated. I am excited because this set’s up a trilogy between these two highly active fighters.

Wow, what can I saw about Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2? The intensity and energy was so thick it could have been sliced with a knife. From the introduction to the stoppage the fight was amazing. Garbrandt did not want to touch gloves and they were off. Dillashaw was visibly the stronger man it seemed like he had stated that his opponent having been KO’d in their last fight did not have the same energy. They both tagged and somewhat stumbled each other but TJ’s power was noticeably more effective stunning Cody and almost neutralizing him. And then just like that the snake TJ put a flurry of punches on Cody and topped it off with a knee. Damn, that fight was exciting! Enough said about whether TJ belongs as the champ.

Right off the bat Cejudo stated he wanted to fight the winner of TJ vs. Cody fight but as TJ mentioned in his post fight interview Cejudo has not earned it. TJ did want to fight Mighty Mouse for the opportunity of title Champ Champ and possibly the title of the GOAT in the UFC. I personally think it is very ambitious of Cejudo right now and even for TJ to want that title of GOAT in the UFC given DJ’s record. Nonetheless it is exciting times in the Bantamweight and Flyweight division’s.

Really quick I want to mention the Cub Swanson vs. Renato Moicano fight which was in the featherweight class. It was an exciting fight by both fighters Moicano won by way of submission handing Swanson his fourth consecutive loss. The respect he showed Cub was the reason I started watching UFC he bowed before him and gave him mad respect as one of UFC’s OG’s. Cub has been in some big battles and has always been a class act. Kudos to Moicano for that rear neck choke hold submission and Cub for his enthusiasm and heart.

Please stay tuned for the Conor vs. Khabib saga..
