The reason I am touching on this subject is that I have been affected in my body, mind and spirit by this life altering substance. I want to be very careful in dealing with this subject and want to say as a disclaimer that this is my own views and life experience. I am writing this article to share my journey with you the reader.
Alcohol or Al-Kuhl: The word “alcohol” is said to come from the arabic term “Al-khul” which means “BODY-EATING SPIRIT” (also, is the origin of the term” ghoul”). In alchemy, alcohol is used to extract the soul essence of an entity. Hence its’ use in extracting essences for essential oils, and the sterilization of medical instruments. By consuming alcohol into the body, it in effect extracts the very essence of the soul, allowing the body to be more susceptible to neighboring entities most of which are of low frequencies.
Self control is in the Bible as gift of the Spirit but upon reading what alcohol is used for it is very easy to see why the Bible says in Ephesians 5:18: “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.” What is debauchery? Well here it goes extreme indulgence in bodily pleasures and especially sexual pleasures : behavior involving sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. that is often considered immoral. Which sexual pleasures is another topic for another day but it falls under the same word. Again, please understand that this does not apply to everyone who drinks but make a personal analysis of yourself. For me it became an issue where I found every reason to drink. Sports, family gatherings, a good movie, a commercial came on for a new brew, at the restaurant and anything you can think of and I had to crack one open.
Growing up like in many homes for family functions the adults had alcohol in moderation. On the television it was an onslaught. Commercials and in movies it was non stop the images of folks having a good time with a drink in their hands. How about all those party movies we grew up watching? Animal house and all those sorority house movies with the hazing for initiation.
Drinking culture refers to the customs and practices associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Today almost every major event involves drinking. Sports, concerts, parties of every kind and even kids theme parks have alcohol available to the adults.
The effects of alcohol on the mind, body and spirit is devastating. Sure in moderation strict moderation it could be beneficial to your health but alcohol is baffling, cunning and powerful according to AA and I can second that. Alcohol has altered my mind as it relates to reasoning and decision making. My body in that I know it has taken a toll on my brain, heart, kidneys and liver and my spirit by creating a self condemning feeling of lack in every aspect of life.
As I share these things with you I will write follow up articles pertaining to the different areas alcohol affects with the how and why for me. Again it is my personal experience that I will be sharing with you.
So please check back with us for the next article on my recovery..
